Sony, with no major stake in the gaming industry in the early '90s, was working with Nintendo to create a CD unit add-on for the SNES. For whatever official reason, Nintendo eventually scrapped the idea and Sony went off by themselves to develop their own platform (the PlayStation) instead. Wise choice! The rest is absolutely powerful history.
This gorgeous little light gray box was at the forefront of pushing 3D gaming to its limit during the fifth console generation, and stood the test of time against all of its competitors worldwide for years and years, regardless if the other machines were more powerful... and did so all the way until Sony followed it up with the mighty, mighty PlayStation 2.
Special items included: Unreleased games, prototypes, English-patched translations, and titles not in English that are easy enough to play without being fluent in another language.
Items removed: Regional duplicates, prototypes or demos of games that eventually saw a full release, and titles that require proficiency in another language to play.
Additional information: All titles are manually hand-tested for at least a minute past the intro to ensure correct loading, successful input, and lack of audio / visual errors.
This set assumes that you are using a modern emulator or device that supports .chd format as well as disc inserting/swapping for multi-disc games. If your setup can only run .bin/.cue dumps and/or .m3u playlist files for multi-disc titles, then this collection will take quite a bit of manual work for you to use it. Instead, I recommend that you use a more capable emulator or device.
