The Virtual Boy was a very ambitious idea, but it was notorious for giving people headaches with its red-only LED display right in front of people's sensitive eyeballs.

The controller was honestly pretty sweet, though, and there were a few gem games hidden under all the gimmicks.

It's crazy to think back how expensive it was to rent one of these units in a big, heavy briefcase from Blockbuster Video (which I had the honor of doing once). It's equally nutty to know that even today, people are developing new, less painful ways to emulate the Virtual Boy, even going as far to be able to play games with better depth in actual VR headsets!

Special items included: Unreleased titles, prototypes, English-patched translations, and titles not in English that are easy enough to play without being fluent in another language.

Items removed: Non-working dumps, duplicates, prototypes or demos of games that eventually saw a full release, homebrew titles, games that require proficiency in another language to play, and hacks.
