In the Western world, long before there were scores of videogame cover bands, Nerdcore musicians, and endless remixes of gaming themes on YouTube, it wasn't often that you would hear videogame music outside of playing the titles themselves, let alone find tributes to it.
Such stuff was normal in Japan, but not here.
I wanted to really dig into the crates to find examples of bands, emcees, and DJs representing gaming culture way before their time. After a few years of collecting, I now present to you a giant chunk of retro game-related music including official club remixes and tribute singles / albums from artists all over the world.
