If you ever owned one, hearing the startup sound of the Sony PlayStation will raise the hairs on the back of your neck. It will make you inch forward from your seat just to make sure the second part of the startup is working (otherwise the disc won't be read and that's a "sad Christmas").
For oldschool PC lovers that played endless hours of Dune II: The Building of a Dynasty, you will still get goosebumps and your mouse clicking finger might start twitching when you hear Westwood Studios' logo music playing.
For arcade rats that were born and raised in those neon-lit halls of wonder, you could hear a few simple beeps or a strange digitized voice and immediately recognize it as audio that played as one of your favorite cabinets were turned on for the day. Ah, that sweet, chaotic symphony of machines starting up together.
While this collection may not appeal to everyone, I'm hoping that hearing some of these sounds will instantly take some of you back and play tricks on your brain like they still do to mine.
