Back in the day, when not all computer audio was created equally, everyone wanted the absolute best sound card on the market. It could make a vast difference in your desktop experience if you played a game listening to a PC speaker versus hearing it come thumping out of a Sound Blaster 16, for example.
It was an exciting time for gaming as well as the age of multimedia and digital music creation.
This collection brings together the demo songs that would come with certain products, meant to show off the best audio of the time.
They may sound like clicks and buzzes and beeps now, but back in the day, it was unbelievable how a computer could even play tunes like this at all. We would sit there and just listen to them over and over again, ushering in this new era with pride in our expensive-ass hardware and software.
