The PC-FX was the last console effort of NEC, who had previously made the TurboGrafx / PC Engine series of machines.

It resembled a desktop computer tower, and was even somewhat upgradeable like one. This super nifty CD-based machine released at an inopportune time - Its technology was already a bit dated by its target release date in 1992, but the launch was extremely delayed on top of that, coming out just a month before 1995. This means it brought its nearly nonexistent 3D polygon graphics ability to directly compete with the monstrous PlayStation as well as the rest of the crowded market at the time: the Sega Saturn, Atari Jaguar, Neo Geo CD, and 3DO. The low tech specs while maintaining a high price tag destined the PC-FX to a financial failure.

Not to be simply thrown away and forgotten, the PC-FX was still a really cool console with a lot of exclusives and one major advantage over all the rest of its competition: FMV. It could decompress a steady 30 images per second while playing cd quality audio, while the PlayStation could only max out at 24. Because of this, the machine hosted many FMV-based (in particular, anime footage) games that either made you feel like you were controlling the video, or that showed high quality cutscenes.

This is a rather small collection, as every single title released for the PC-FX was in Japanese, often with video that is not easy for translators to subtitle, but there are still a handful here that can be enjoyed by other language speakers.
